DOCTOR Who star Matt Smith has split up with model Daisy Lowe. Friends say the couple are devastated — but work commitments made their 18-month romance impossible to continue. A source said: “It’s been hard for them to find time together.”

Friends said Matt — recently pictured in The Sun playfully groping Daisy’s bottom — had seemed besotted with the Playboy cover girl. A source said: “This has come as a surprise to everyone. It was thought they’d be together for a really long time because they were so into each other.

“They always seemed so happy together. Matt was besotted with Daisy and she adored him.” The pair are said to have split last week because work commitments made it impossible for them to spend quality time together. Matt, 29, has been busy filming scenes for his latest film Bert And Dickie over the summer.

And he was in Wales in September for the filming of the Doctor Who Christmas special. Model Daisy, 22, regularly travels abroad for photo shoots and was in Los Angeles over the summer for her Playboy session.
